Sunday was an amazing night!

First of all…96 students?!? Are you kidding me? Wow…

We kicked things off loading up in cars and TAKING OVER the city of Williamsport in our annual photo scavenger hunt! Students scoured the city to reach their objectives — household showers, local school principals, Optimus Prime, and a host of other tasks. The eventual winners were the high school guys small group led by John Hall and Andy Strine, reaching all but one objective. Amazing! Check out our Flickr site for pictures (and more are on their way!)

We squeezed ourselves into the Loft for a time of Word and devotion (there’s something special about cramming almost 100 hundred students into a space the size of a large living room). We’re starting a new series called “HEROES” that will explore the actions and faith of men and women in the Old Testament. Tonight, I shared a short glimpse at the life of Jacob and his unique encounter with God in Genesis 32. It’s amazing to me that Jacob is only blessed after refusing to stop the fight. In His goodness, God picks a fight with our hearts and allows us to struggle with Him so that when we persevere, He may bless us. The students were invited to pray over the desires and hopes that God put on their hearts and write those things on a wall in the Loft (don’t do this at home!) Like Jacob, they were encouraged to not let go of those things until God blessed them.

It was a beautiful night. Take a moment to visit the Loft and see how students desire to see God move in 2008!

Be God’s
